7 Thoughts on Peace (and Pie)

December 24th, 2008 by Jane

No matter which winter holiday you and your family celebrate this season, may you have peace.  And a piece of pie.  Here are a few thoughts on the subject:

1. A smile is the beginning of peace.
Mother Teresa

2. Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by
which we arrive at that goal.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

3. Peace begins when the hungry are fed.

4. When you’re finally up on the moon, looking back at the earth, all these differences and nationalistic traits are pretty well going to blend and you’re going to get a concept that maybe this is really one world and why the hell can’t we learn to live together like decent people?
Frank Borman, astronaut

5. Teach this triple truth to all: A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity.

6. We shall find peace. We shall hear angels. We shall see the sky sparkling with diamonds.
Anton Chekov

7. And finally, to put it all into perspective: a little wisdom from Stephen Colbert, Willie Nelson, Feist and Elvis Costello.

Happy holidays everyone!  We will see you back here on Monday.
